ABOUT THIS PRACTICE REFLECTIVE PROGRAM

Personal reflection activities focus on a particular aspect of a physician’s clinical practice. The purpose of these activities is to assess one’s current performance in practice versus colleagues across the country as well as to become more cognizant of published literature and practice guidelines to identify areas for potential improvement.

Aligned with self-directed learning activities set forth by the RCPSC, this program will challenge physicians to reflect critically on how patients are currently responding to their treatment for ovarian cancer and subsequently determine future management strategies based on clinical assessment and the integration of your clinical experience and therapeutic choices.

The share-back (presentation of results by participating physicians) phase of the program provides a further opportunity for reflection, collegial discussion and knowledge translation among local groups of healthcare providers caring for women with ovarian cancer.

The PARP Inhibitors for Ovarian Cancer program offers the opportunity to truly make a difference by aiding physicians in identifying a potential gap in the way patients with ovarian cancer are currently being treated.

The main component of the program is a user-friendly patient assessment form that will act as not only the stimulus for learning but also as a catalyst for potential treatment change recommendations for OVC patients (a copy of the patient assessment form can be found within the appendix).  More specifically, the assessment form can help clinicians identify patients who may not be adequately responding to their treatment or experiencing intolerable side effects and thus, a change in therapeutic regimen might be warranted.
